What to say when someone is depressed?

People who’re getting depressed may want some support from you. You can be supportive by only saying some positive things to those depressed persons. Following are some suggestions that could help you to help a depressed person-

1. Say to them that you’re not alone and you’ve lots of importance to us.
2. You’re not going mad
3. Ask whether he wants a hug. Say to him that when all this is over, I’ll still be here and so will you.
4. I’m not going to leave you or abandon you.
5. Don’t say like this “Believe me, I know how you feel. I was depressed once for several days.”

Present research says talk therapy is excellent for depression patients. A skilled and compassionate therapist can help you a lot to get rid of depression. Research suggests that talk therapy even causes changes in brain function similar to those produced by medication.
