Nutritional values of Grapes

Grapes, the fruit which is commonly used for making juice, jelly, wine, raisins or can also be eaten raw. This is a small berry like fruit with thin edible skin and a translucent green or red flesh. Grapes are generally seedless or hardly can have 1-2 seeds.

The nutritional values of grapes are great! They’re an excellent source of vitamin C with dietary fibre. A single serving of grapes offers you 176 millions of potassium and 13 milligrams of calcium. A portion of grapes also provide you with 9 milligrams of phosphorus. Magnesium is also present in grapes, with a cup of grapes containing 4.6mg. Zinc, manganese and copper are also present in small amounts in grapes. Red grapes contain a compound known as resveratol which is very helpful for reducing cholesterol, hence it protects heart.

Grapes also have good quantities of Vitamin B complex. Like Vitamin B6, Vitamin B2 or riboflavin, niacin or Vitamin B3, pantothenic acid or Vitamin B5. By eating a serve of grapes you may obtain 3.6 micrograms of folate which is important for pregnant women.


Anthocyanins, flavones, geraniol, linalol, nerol and tannins are the antioxidants which are present in grapes. These antioxidants are very much helpful to protect the body from cancers.
