Wheat germ

Wheat germ is a very small component of wheat kernel, only 2 ½% of total kernel. There is no relation with the term germ. It has numerous benefits like; it prevents so many things like heart disease, stroke, constipation, colon cancer. It also improves digestion, dissolves cholesterol etc. The oil is been extracted from the germ contained in kernel. It has strong flavor and used in making of a varieties of quality cosmetics and skin care products. Its nourishing nature is very helpful to fight against dry and sensitive skin. This oil can rejuvenate skin, removes sun tan, produces new cells, increases flow of circulation and prevents the symptoms of dermatitis.

Skin care by sandalwood

Since ancient ayurvedic era sandalwood has been used to cure different skin ailments. This antiseptic herb protects skin from harmful UV rays of sun, cleanses, moisturizes, and makes the skin germ free. Sandalwood has some other benefits also like comforting and soothing, relives itchiness from the skin, appropriate for dry skin, nail problems, rosacea, stretch marks, wrinkles and so on. Sandalwood is used in aromatherapy and to make soaps, creams, face pack etc. Wood scent is used in perfume and its essential oil can treat anxiety.

Some homemade stuffs of sandalwood for skin care-

1. Daily use of red sandalwood generates glowing skin.

2. Paste of coconut milk and red sandal wood powder makes skin soft and gentle.

3. For acne remedy- Make a paste of two teaspoons of sandal wood and rose water. Leave it for 20-30 minutes and wash it with tepid water.

4. Two teaspoon of almond oil and 4 teaspoon of sandalwood powder is useful to remove suntan.

5. The paste of sandal wood powder, turmeric and milk relives the affected area due to insect bites.
6. To treat allergy, apply a pack of turmeric, sandalwood powder and lime juice (1 teaspoon each) and rinse with plain water.

7. For pimples- paste of 1 teaspoon of sandal wood powder, turmeric and a small piece of camphor at night before going to bed might be helpful for getting relieve from pimples.

Cleopatra was famous for her milk and honey baths and Poppea used a honey and milk lotion on her face to keep her looking youthful.

Honey as a Face Scrub: Mix an equal part of corn meal and honey in a jar which you may apply on your face. It’s a great face scrub helps you to get a nice skin and also helpful to protect skin from dried out.

For a wonderful bath experience: For a fragrant and silky bath mix ¼ cup honeys to bath water.

For shiny hair: Mix 1 teaspoonful of honey into 4 cup of warm water. After shampooing your hair pour the mixture over your hair. Don’t rinse your hair. Let it dry normally.
