Winter Skin Care


Winter is a great time, but in this season your skin begins to dry and you feel uncomfortably and itchy. Though, skin care is essential in every season, but take special care of your skin to get alive skin in winter.

1. Wash your face with a mild facial cleanser and rinse with lukewarm water. Antibacterial soaps and very hot water strip essential moisture from your skin, so avoid it.

2. For oily or normal skin use toners after washing, but for dry skin, avoid toners.

3. Apply a oil-based moisturizer for your skin. This will help protect your skin from moisture loss.

4. Try applying a sunscreen with at least an SPF of 15 or more to your face and your hands about 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply frequently if you stay outside a long time.

5. Exfoliate can help remove dead skin cells. Add this to your cleansing routine once a week.

6. Drink lots of water to prevent dehydration.

Rose Water for Skin Care


Roses are valued from ancient times for its beauty, medicinal powers, charm and aromatic oils. Everybody knows the importance of Rose Water in skin care.

Prepared Homemade Rose Water Easily:-
Pour a sun tea jar with rose petals and fresh water. Then keep it in sun for many days. Such homemade Rose water cannot be used for long, as it is prone to bacterial growth. You should use it as fresh as possible.

1. Mix rose water and vinegar in equal quantities and apply it to get glowing skin.

2. Grind dried basil leaf, neem and mint (100 gm each). Add some turmeric powder and rose water to make it in a paste form and apply it on the spots. It is very helpful to remove black spots.

3. To remove wrinkles on the face, apply a mixture of rosewater, sandalwood powder and glycerin. Wash with cold water after some time.

4. Rose water is a very good skin toner.

5. Apply rose water with facial mask.

2. Aloe Vera is a natural cure for dry and chapped lips. Extract the gel from one or two aloe vera leaves and rub it on your lips. Apply the gel whenever your lips become dry. To treat extremely cracked lips, you may apply the gel on the lips at night and leave it overnight.

3. Milk cream has proved to be valuable in treating dry chapped lips. It would remove the dry skin and make your lips smooth.

Eat grapes to prevent heart attack and lower BP

A University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center study suggests grapes may prevent heart risks beyond the simple BP-lowering impact that can come from a diet rich in fruits and vegetables.

The benefits may be the result of the phytochemicals - naturally occurring antioxidants - turning on a protective process in the genes that reduces damage to the heart muscle.

The researchers studied either the effect of regular table grapes (a blend of green, red and black grapes) that were mixed into the rat diet in a powdered form, as part of a high or a low-salt diet.

Comparisons were made between rats consuming the grape powder and rats that received a mild dose of a common BP drug. All the rats were from a research breed that develops high BP when fed a salty diet.

After 18 weeks,the rats that received the grape-enriched diet powder had lower BP, better heart function, and fewer signs of heart muscle damage than the rats that ate the same salty diet but didn't receive grapes.

Rats that received BP medicine,hydrazine,along with a salty diet also had lower blood pressure,but their hearts were not protected from damage as they were in the grape-fed group.

"There are the small changes that diet can bring,but the effect of grape intake on genes can have a greater impact on disease down the road,"said E. Mitchell Seymour, who led the research as part of his doctoral work in nutrition science at Michigan State University,said its release.

The study,performed in laboratory rats,was presented at the 2009 Experimental Biology convention in New Orleans.
